golf club
Raj G asked:

August National Golf Club is a higly prestigious private club with a very limited number of members…All of whom are men. In 2003, a feminist organization, with national support from feminists, launched a campaign to pressure the club into allowing female club members and the club refused, despite the enormous amount of financial pressure. Since the majority of feminists in YA seem to think that it is acceptable to provide preference for entrance to clubs to certain individuals based on their sex, what is your opinion of the Augusta incident? Are you consistent in your beliefs and do you believe that their sex-based qualifications are acceptable? Or do you believe that national feminist organizations erred in their efforts?

smoofus70: That’s very nice that you have generalized your personal opinion onto others, but if you click on any of the questions pertinent to ladies-night, you’ll find consistent excuses for permitting that brand of sexism. If, however, you believe that ladies-night is sexist, then you’re excused from hypocrisy regarding this question.
smoofus70: By my count, 75% supported the sexist practice. But I notice that you only include “regulars”, which allows you to filter out those that don’t meet your demands (i.e. bias).
smoofus70: Here is a complete list (of regulars) based on Mike T’s direct question (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ain4a7gcpVJnCxXd1pRfUxQYxgt.;_ylv=3?qid=20071217092946AAdU6xf):

Only Rio Madeira spoke out against it (she seems to be rather consistent in her thinking). Even though you say you opposed it in another question, in that question you dismissed it as unimportant, saying “Yes, it is sexist, but you should talk to the men who promote it. It’s not a feminist thing”. In other words, while you believe it’s sexist, you don’t believe it’s something that needs to be addressed by feminists who supposedly believe in “equality”. That’s actually 88% of regular feminists who are in support of sexist club admissions as long as they favor women.

For these invisible goggles depends entirely on who they forgot that the fgpa existed somehow miraculously it just vanished from their mind that the ya feminists think about the gpa but know they determine is suffering.

I will tell you the difference- night clubs are for-profit entities- They are private. They are owned by individuals.

The Augusta National Golf Club is a non profit, supposedly public benefit association. Organized under the laws of the US - since it is being given a tax benefit from our government it needs to operate under the laws. In essence it is owned by the public.

The golf club should let women in and locker rooms and clubs should let women in genderspecific bathrooms and possibly some discussion is thats.
