Go for something that you know he really likes, but is unlikely to buy it himself, as you’ve opposed him to buy it.

Why not make a deal with your husband that he’s to not make any purchases for himself and you’ll do the same from a set point forward until Christmas…Agree that IF you neither one are surprised with just the “right” gift, no hard feelings and after the holidays you may return and purchase the “right” one if not under the tree…and just maybe you’ll find that he’s just as worried that you’ll make purchases for yourself as well…Merry Christmas
