Has anyone ever used the Golf and Spa gift certificates you see around now?

I have seen this gift certificates lately that allow for one complimentary golf round, or spa treatment. I was wondering if anyone has ever used one, and if they are relatively simple to redeem. It says you have to make a call, and have them set up the time, etc. I don’t want to have to jump thru hoops and things for some reduced rate golf rounds.
