1st… If yours grip is too tight. the release won’t happen. Your grip needs to be no firmer than what is allowed to maintain a relaxed feel. Maybe a 4 in a 1-10 scale. You have to experiment. One tip I like was to grip the club like you are holding a bird securely without squeezing it. Your grip will tighten slightly naturally as you take it back.. Once the wrist is cocked try hitting the ball hard as if it were a nail and the club a hammer. The release should happen naturally..

@jaacobbowden okay thanks man. I never really focused on the release of my club in the past, but i think ill be able to make my swing a lot more consistent just practicing the release.

@ILoveChappy - Some of the best laggers still have 90 degrees between the club and their lead forearm as the hands are approaching the rear leg on the downswing from a face-on viewpoint…but still get full extension by the time they hit the ball or very shortly after the strike. Working to achieve that would give you a good amount of pop on the ball.
