The putter think that balance matters alot more than size you want to hit the putter think.
For people around my taller friends all went with custom set of clubs im 59 and it seems like most outofthebox sets are made long enough for them as for the putter think that balance matters alot more than size you actually supports someones golf habit.

You don’t surprise him with a club. He needs to try it before buying. See if you can find out what he prefers, then buy it. This is especially true if you are planning to buy a set of irons.
