It’s my birthday today, and my gf’s parents ’surprised’ me by giving me a car.

Problem is, it’s a clapped-out 1998 VW Golf and really not my style. The only hatchback I could conceivably see myself driving is an Alfa Romeo, and certainly no more than 3 years old.

What’s a nice way of telling them I don’t like it, or asking if they could possibly upgrade it for me?

Billy B asked:

I’m a straight guy and can not figure out what the rules are for colors that go together. I wore dark grey pants with a dark green shirt, thought I looks good, and a guy at work said that it didn’t go together.

He is straight too so I don’t know if he knows what he is talking about.

If it doesn’t go together why not?

How about grey pants with a black and yellow shirt?

What colors shirt can I wear with grey pants?

I am talking about golf shirts BTW.

Raj G asked:

August National Golf Club is a higly prestigious private club with a very limited number of members…All of whom are men. In 2003, a feminist organization, with national support from feminists, launched a campaign to pressure the club into allowing female club members and the club refused, despite the enormous amount of financial pressure. Since the majority of feminists in YA seem to think that it is acceptable to provide preference for entrance to clubs to certain individuals based on their sex, what is your opinion of the Augusta incident? Are you consistent in your beliefs and do you believe that their sex-based qualifications are acceptable? Or do you believe that national feminist organizations erred in their efforts?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Augusta_National_Golf_Club#Membership
smoofus70: That’s very nice that you have generalized your personal opinion onto others, but if you click on any of the questions pertinent to ladies-night, you’ll find consistent excuses for permitting that brand of sexism. If, however, you believe that ladies-night is sexist, then you’re excused from hypocrisy regarding this question.
smoofus70: By my count, 75% supported the sexist practice. But I notice that you only include “regulars”, which allows you to filter out those that don’t meet your demands (i.e. bias).
smoofus70: Here is a complete list (of regulars) based on Mike T’s direct question (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ain4a7gcpVJnCxXd1pRfUxQYxgt.;_ylv=3?qid=20071217092946AAdU6xf):

Only Rio Madeira spoke out against it (she seems to be rather consistent in her thinking). Even though you say you opposed it in another question, in that question you dismissed it as unimportant, saying “Yes, it is sexist, but you should talk to the men who promote it. It’s not a feminist thing”. In other words, while you believe it’s sexist, you don’t believe it’s something that needs to be addressed by feminists who supposedly believe in “equality”. That’s actually 88% of regular feminists who are in support of sexist club admissions as long as they favor women.

I’ve been playing golf for a few years now and have had one series of lessons, but am I still a high handicapper. I’ve been thinking about getting private lessons this time around. However, I recently got a new set of golf clubs as a present and I’m not sure they’re fitted correctly for me. I want to get a club fitting to see what kind of adjustments need to be made on the clubs. Which should I do first? The club fitting or the lessons?
